Godthrone’s Lore

Godthrone Continent

A mythical landmass blessed by the gods:
The Godthrone Continent is a massive landmass, completely detached from the rest of the world, governed by bizarre rules and unique physics. Each region within the continent is distinct, with no two areas alike. The connection between the planes can best be described as a giant wheel, with the Material Plane resting at its center. As one ventures further from the center, they encounter planes that embody the fundamental aspects of the physical world.

Plane of Earth

Lore of Plane of Earth

Worlds Made Entirely of Stones and Gems

The Plane of Earth is a realm of endless solidity, where the ground stretches infinitely in every direction, and the air is heavy with the scent of stone and mineral. It is a world of vast underground caverns, unbreakable mountains, and crystalline formations that glimmer in the dim light of glowing fungi. Everything here is made of earth, from the tiniest grains of sand to colossal boulders, forming a near-impenetrable landscape of rock and stone.

An Endless Labyrinth

Unlike other planes, the Plane of Earth lacks an open sky. Instead, it is a seemingly infinite series of caves, tunnels, and subterranean chambers. Some are small and claustrophobic, while others are vast, cathedral-like expanses filled with towering stalagmites and dripping stalactites. Walls shimmer with veins of precious metals and gems—diamonds, emeralds, rubies—so abundant they seem to mock the greed of mortals.

Massive stone pillars support the weight of the earth above, and rivers of molten magma snake through the darkest depths, providing the only semblance of light in an otherwise shadowed domain.

The Crushing Weight

Gravity in the Plane of Earth is oppressive, heavier than on the Material Plane. The air is thick, making it difficult for non-native beings to breathe. Movement is slow and arduous, and the constant pressure can weigh down even the strongest travelers. In some regions, the crushing weight of stone above becomes unbearable, collapsing tunnels and sealing off passageways.

Elemental Creatures

The Plane of Earth is home to beings of stone, metal, and crystal. Earth elementals dominate the landscape, ranging from lumbering humanoid forms to serpentine constructs of rock.

Other native inhabitants include:

  • Xorn: Strange, three-armed creatures that feast on precious gems and metals.

  • Gargoyles: Winged monstrosities that blend seamlessly into rocky outcroppings, lying in wait for unsuspecting prey.

  • Galeb Duhr: Sentient boulders that protect their domains with stubborn resilience.

  • Dao: Powerful genies of earth, the dao are masters of the Plane of Earth. Greedy and ambitious, they hoard treasure and enslave weaker beings, ruling over subterranean cities built of polished stone and glittering gemstones.

Natural Wonders

Despite its harshness, the Plane of Earth is a realm of astonishing beauty. Its crystalline caverns glow with internal luminescence, casting vibrant rainbows of light. Monolithic structures of pure obsidian rise from the ground, and rivers of liquid gold flow through deep fissures in the stone.

Fabled locations include:

  • The Gemstone Spires: Towering formations of pure crystal that hum with magical energy.

  • The Gemstone Spires: Towering formations of pure crystal that hum with magical energy.

  • The Obsidian Abyss: A bottomless chasm said to lead to the Negative Energy Plane.

  • The Molten Vein: A massive river of magma that connects to the Plane of Fire.

  • The Adamant Citadel: A fortress made entirely of adamantine, home to the dao’s most powerful rulers.

Ties to the Material Plane

The Plane of Earth is deeply connected to the Material Plane. Mountains, mines, and caves often contain weak points in the planar fabric, where the energy of the Plane of Earth seeps through. Such places are rich in minerals and gemstones, attracting miners and adventurers seeking fortune.

However, planar crossings can also bring danger. Earth elementals or greedy dao may emerge from these rifts, seeking to exploit the Material Plane's resources—or its inhabitants.

Challenges of Survival

Surviving in the Plane of Earth is no small feat. Food and water are almost nonexistent, and the constant pressure makes prolonged stays dangerous for non-natives. Finding a path through the endless labyrinth of stone requires exceptional navigation skills, and one wrong turn can lead to a slow, suffocating demise.

The Essence of Stability

The Plane of Earth represents unyielding stability and endurance. It is a realm of immense strength, where only the toughest beings thrive. While it may lack the chaos of fire or the fluidity of water, the Plane of Earth is a testament to the power of persistence and the enduring beauty of nature’s most unyielding element.

For those brave or foolish enough to venture into this plane, it offers untold treasures—and the constant threat of being buried beneath its immense, unrelenting weight.
