Godthrone’s Lore

Godthrone Continent

A mythical landmass blessed by the gods:
The Godthrone Continent is a massive landmass, completely detached from the rest of the world, governed by bizarre rules and unique physics. Each region within the continent is distinct, with no two areas alike. The connection between the planes can best be described as a giant wheel, with the Material Plane resting at its center. As one ventures further from the center, they encounter planes that embody the fundamental aspects of the physical world.

Plane of Water

Lore of Plane of Water

Endlessly Spanning Sea of Worlds

The Plane of Water is a boundless expanse of liquid infinity, an eternal ocean with no shores, no sky, and no true bottom. It is a realm of ceaseless motion, where currents twist and churn through a seemingly endless sea, and islands of coral and stone drift upon the tides. Within this aquatic abyss lies the mystery and wonder of a thousand submerged worlds, each teeming with life and danger.

A Realm Without End

In the Plane of Water, there is no horizon; the sea stretches in every direction, interrupted only by occasional floating masses of rock, coral, or strange vegetation. The surface is dotted with calm stretches of crystalline water, raging whirlpools, and perpetual storms, while the depths conceal vast trenches, glowing caverns, and ancient ruins swallowed by the sea.

The light here is strange and shifting. Near the surface, the waters are illuminated by an ethereal glow, but as one ventures deeper, the ocean becomes an ominous void, lit only by bioluminescent creatures and glowing thermal vents.

The Endless Currents

Powerful currents flow throughout the Plane of Water, some slow and serene, others swift and turbulent. These currents act as highways, transporting travelers and creatures across vast distances. However, navigating them is a perilous task, as they can quickly drag the unprepared into dangerous depths—or into the lairs of predatory beings.

Inhabitants of the Deep

The Plane of Water is home to a diverse array of creatures, ranging from the majestic to the monstrous:

  • Water Elementals: Living waves and whirlpools, these beings embody the ever-changing nature of water.

  • Marids: Genies of water, regal and aloof, ruling underwater palaces of glittering coral and pearl.

  • Sea Serpents: Gigantic, snake-like creatures that glide through the depths, feared and revered by many.

  • Merfolk and Tritons: Intelligent aquatic humanoids who dwell in vast cities beneath the waves.

  • Kraken: Titanic, tentacled beasts lurking in the deepest trenches, waiting to crush anything that dares approach their domain.

Aquatic Wonders

The Plane of Water is as beautiful as it is treacherous, offering breathtaking sights that inspire awe and dread in equal measure:

  • The Coral Labyrinth: A sprawling, multicolored reef filled with tunnels and hidden treasures, guarded by feral sea creatures.

  • The Sunken Vault: An ancient city that glows faintly in the depths, rumored to contain relics of a long-lost civilization.

  • The Endless Geyser: A massive underwater volcano that continually spews columns of boiling water and glowing minerals.

  • The Eternal Maelstrom: A colossal whirlpool that never ceases, its center leading to unknown and possibly forbidden realms.

Ties to the Material Plane

The Plane of Water is closely tied to the oceans, lakes, and rivers of the Material Plane. Portals between the two realms often appear as shimmering whirlpools or sudden shifts in water pressure, and oceanic storms may signal a breach between the planes.

Mages and adventurers sometimes seek out the Plane of Water to harness its elemental power, whether to calm storms, summon aquatic beings, or channel the primal force of water into their magic. However, such excursions are fraught with danger, as the inhabitants of the plane are not always welcoming to outsiders.

Challenges of Survival

Surviving in the Plane of Water is no simple feat. The lack of breathable air, the crushing pressure of the depths, and the omnipresent threat of predatory creatures make every moment a struggle. Even seasoned travelers find themselves tested by the plane’s ceaseless motion and its ever-shifting terrain.

The Ocean Eternal

The Plane of Water is a realm of infinite beauty and peril, where life flourishes in forms both wondrous and terrifying. It is a place of freedom and fluidity, embodying the essence of change and adaptability.

For those daring enough to explore its depths, the Plane of Water offers untold riches and mysteries beyond imagination, but it also demands respect and vigilance. In this endless sea of worlds, one must learn to move with the tides—or risk being swept away by their power.
